「しらふバー」を英語で言うと？

　2019年7月5日（金）テレビ東京のモーニングサテライトでパックンが「しらふバー」の紹介をしていました。チラ見なので日本のことかと思っていましたが、どうもアメリカ発祥のようでした。Googleで ‘sober bar’ を検索すると、トップに出たのが SoBar でした。デンバーにオープンするNPO「しらふレストラン」だそうです。ほかも探してみると、BBCの報道では、ニューヨーク、ロンドンなどでも人気のよう。BBCの記事では、酒のないバー (a bar without booze) とはなんだか矛盾表現 (oxymoron) のようだとして、an aquarium without fish （魚のいない水族館）、a bakery that doesn’t serve bread （パンの出ないベーカリー）を例にあげています。ちなみに矛盾[撞着]語法の例としてデジタル大辞泉は「無慈悲な親切」「ゆっくり急げ」などをあげています。

　さらに言えば、酒を飲んでも（少なくとも見かけ上は）しらふの人もいますよね。こんな意見を言ってきたネイティブがいました：To me "sober" means "not intoxicated or drunk". This state of mind can still exist when a person of average weight drinks no more than two drinks in a couple of hours, certainly no more than that in three hours. （私にとって sober （しらふの）の意味は「酩酊していない」ことです。並の体重の人が２時間ほどかけて2杯ほど飲んでも酔っぱらいません。ましてや、それだけの量を3時間かければ酩酊しません。）だから、アルコールを1滴も出さないバーをsober barというのはおかしいというのですが、これ屁理屈といえば屁理屈ですね。
